To fully recycle sneakers is very complex, because there are many pattern pieces and often these materials aren’t all the same and are stitched and glued together. It can be done, but tends to be very expensive and  labour intensive to dismantle shoes in the recycling process. Using mono materials (one material) where possible can be more of a simple solution to promote recycling more proficiently.

The Bottega Veneta Clog uses the same biodegradable polymer material as seen in the form of the “Puddle” boot released in 2020 which the brand boasted being made of sugarcane and coffee.

The other notable addition is the Climber Sneakers come in two styles. One is fully crafted from rubber (Mono material) and the other is rubber with a featured contrast knitted sock-liner, lace-up fastening with contrast textured rubber sole.

Although the price isn’t accessible for all, the product and marketing concepts being generated at this luxury brand are very interesting and somewhat bucks the trend amongst other cohorts. For example Bottega has begun to explore alternative editorial ideas of interacting with its audience after making the bold move to delete all social media channels. They have released a pretty amazing digital magazine including photography, films, collages, CGI videos, design sketches and archive documentation etc.

Coming together sets a precedent of understanding and being united during times of uncertainty in essence a leading example of how the cultural sector is stronger together. Fable Footworks mission is simply to create new and innovative ways to sparking conversation and create meaningful inclusive connection.
